Shannon Bailey, 2025 Frances Henne Award Winner


The American Association of School Librarians recently named Shannon Bailey, M. Ed. in School Librarianship '20, as the 2025 recipient of the Frances Henne Award.  Ms. Bailey serves as a librarian at Manchester High School in Chesterfield County Public Schools.  Since completing her graduate degree at Longwood, Ms. Bailey has excelled in the field.  She served as James Region Director for the Virginia Association of School Librarians (VAASL) and is currently serving VAASL as treasurer.  She was honored in 2024 with Longwood's Graduate Young Alumni Award.  

Ms. Bailey joins two previous Longwood alumni as winners of the Frances Henne Award:  2011 award winner Shannon Hyman,  M.S. Ed. '09, and 2014 award winner Carolyn Stenzel, M.S. Ed. '11.  Dr. Carl Harvey, associate professor of school librarianship, was winner of the award in 2000.
