The Longwood Legacy Scholarship was established by the Longwood University Alumni Association and Foundation Board in 1988. The purpose of the scholarship is to recognize deserving undergraduate students who have a close relation who is a Longwood alumna/alumnus.

Longwood University takes great pride in our students and rewards those who most exemplify the Longwood spirit in academics, involvement, and citizen leadership.

The Alumni Legacy Scholarship is an alumni-funded scholarship awarded every four years to one incoming freshman student. The awarded freshman will receive the scholarship annually for their four years at Longwood. To be considered for the scholarship, you should have at least one close relation who graduated from Longwood. This may include a parent, grandparent, sibling, aunt, uncle, primary caregiver, or other close relation. Recipients are selected based on a combination of their academic standing, activities, and personal vision of Citizen Leadership.

Every fall, a number of one-time $500 scholarships are awarded to returning students.

This year, there are multiple $500 scholarships available for returning students. To be considered, upperclassmen should apply before July 15.

Incoming freshmen should apply for the Alumni Legacy Scholarship before July 1.
